Conservation projects in BRASIL
Get to know the different projects working towards the conservation of small wild felids in Brasil.

Our project is located in the Cantareira region, Brazil. The region is marked by highly populated urban areas, with mosaics of forest patches and protected areas. Jaguars are locally extinct and pumas still occur in very low densities. The small wild cat species present in this region are: ocelots (L. pardalis), margays (L. wiedii), southern tiger cats (L. guttulus) and jaguarundis (H. yagouaroundi).
At this moment we have 3 main objectives:

Surveys: understand spatial distribution of small wild cats in the Cantareira System.

Space Use and Movement patterns on landscapes with different levels of fragmentation.

Felids of Southern Brazil
The group studies the effects on human variables in small wild cat populations.
Their main activities include:

Create a network of volunteers to obtain current information across a large area
-
Partner with adn provide funding to an existing rescue, rehabilitation, release center
-
Community-based conservation programs to reduce immediate threats
-
Children’s programs to reduce future threats
-
Local, regional, and national government policy alignment and enforcement

Raising awareness across a wide spectrum of society

Institute Felinos do Aguaí
The aim is to promote the conservation of wild felines through research, environmental education and ecological health programs.
Their main activities include:
